The event scheduled for this Wednesday, Jan. 18, in San Francisco will present new tools for developers.
The decision of the social networking giant came after an internal evaluation of the like button. With these new tools users can share activities without having to endorse them with the like button. If your friend is watching a movie and post it on Facebook, you can say that you have watch or read the same book without the need to like.
In addition to new actions from Gestures the new Open Graph allow some changes:
• The applications will not need to ask permission to post in the user profile each time it is triggered. From now on you will only authorize the application the first time you use it.
• Applications that use the Open Graph will automatically post on ticker (sidebar updates in real time), but will not appear on the timeline, only if they are marked as important events.
• Users can share experiences, listen to music at the same time with Open Graph applications.
What do you think about these changes? Are you eager to share every activity of your day? Leave a comment below.
The South African fast food chain Wimpy decided to create braille menus for its restaurants. In order to disseminate the news, they’ve directed the campaign money they would use in television commercial to produce a video. The video would be shared only through social networks.
In partnership with organizations that help the visually impaired in South Africa, Wimpy prepared some special sandwiches. Each bread sandwich received sesame seeds that formed a Braille sentence, they were served to 15 visually impaired and the action was filmed.
The video went viral and Wimpy received spontaneous media mention and an award for best advertisement. Besides acknowledging clearly that the action was not altruistic, it’s inspiring to see a different, touching and non-conventional ad.
